The Exterior Range

Built for weather,
built to last decades

Our entire exterior range is thermally modified — a natural process using only heat and steam that dramatically improves dimensional stability, durability and resistance to weathering. No chemicals. No preservatives.

Thermal modification changes the cell structure of the timber permanently, making it far more resistant to moisture movement, rot and decay than untreated alternatives — while retaining all the warmth and character of natural wood.

Dimensionally stable in wet conditions
Class 3–4 natural durability, no chemical treatment
Significantly reduced moisture absorption
Rich, deep tones that weather beautifully

Applications

From facades
to outdoor living

Facade Cladding

Fourteen profiles for any facade system — from classic DVS tongue-and-groove to expressive Rhombo, Blockbohlen and Barel. Suitable for horizontal, vertical and diagonal installation on residential and commercial facades.

Decking & Terraces

Five profiles with concealed fixing systems as standard — no visible screws, clean finish. SENOFIX, TENI and TRUST LIGO fixings are engineered specifically for thermally modified timber where surface screws are not recommended.

Outdoor Structures

Structural and finishing timber for garden rooms, pergolas, fencing, and external framing. Our Thermo Taeda and Thermo Pine grades are particularly suited to load-bearing applications.

Why Thermal Modification

Natural process,
remarkable results

Thermal modification is a purely natural process. Timber is exposed to high heat and steam in a controlled environment — no chemicals, no preservatives, nothing artificial. The result is a material that outperforms most treated alternatives and is completely safe for residential and commercial use.

Significantly reduced moisture absorptionThe timber swells and shrinks far less, meaning fewer gaps and fewer issues over time.
Class 3–4 natural durabilityAchieved without any chemical impregnation — safer for people, wildlife and the environment.
Rich, consistent colour throughout the boardThe modification colour runs through the entire board, not just the surface.
Excellent machinability and workabilityProfiles cleanly and consistently, making installation straightforward for any joinery team.
No chemical treatments — safe for all applicationsSuitable for residential gardens, public spaces, play areas and commercial facades alike.

FAQ

Common
questions

What is thermal modification and why does it matter for exterior timber?

Thermal modification uses only heat and steam — no chemicals — to permanently alter the wood's cell structure. The result is timber that absorbs significantly less moisture, resists rot and insect attack, and remains dimensionally stable in changing weather conditions.

What cladding profiles do you offer?

We supply tongue-and-groove, shiplap, open-joint and shadow gap cladding profiles. Grooved and smooth decking boards are available for terraces. Custom widths, profiles and lengths are available on request.

Which species is best for facade cladding?

Thermo Pine and Thermo Spruce are the most widely used for facade cladding — both offer excellent durability and stability. Thermo Ash is the premium choice where aesthetics and hardness are priorities.

Which species is best for decking and terraces?

Thermo Ash offers outstanding natural hardness and striking dark tones — ideal for high-end decking. Thermo Taeda is a high-density option with exceptional load-bearing properties. Thermo Radiata is a versatile all-rounder suited to most outdoor applications.

Does thermally modified timber require maintenance?

Thermally modified timber requires significantly less maintenance than untreated alternatives. It can be left to weather naturally to a silver-grey patina, or treated with oil to retain its original tone. No preservative treatments are required.

Do you supply structural timber for outdoor structures such as pergolas and garden rooms?

Yes. We supply structural and finishing timber for garden rooms, pergolas, fencing and external framing alongside our cladding and decking range. Contact us with your project requirements.
